Immortals released internationally on Friday which mean that this weeks blockbuster took top place on both South African charts and American. This mythological power hitter managed to take all previous efforts down a notch, finally pushing Friends With Benefits off the top 10. The found footage sequel Paranormal Activity 3 also made a showing but other new entries including Beginners, The Devils Double, Apollo 18 and Shanghai didn’t even leave a mark.

This week is the big one. Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 releases countrywide on Friday (with a premiere show tomorrow evening). This film will break bank just as it’s prequels did and it wouldn’t be surprising to see it at top spot for the next few weeks. Also releasing is the Straw Dogs remake and Will Ferrell’s Everything Must Go.
