Remember the post about Daredevil possibly reverting back to Marvel? Well, Variety reports that 20th Century Fox didn’t want any of that and has gotten the wheels turning on the reboot.
While it’s not exactly official, it has been said that the reboot has a director – Joe Carnahan to be precise. Not sure who Carnahan is? He’s the the man behind The Grey (which I thought was great and nobody seemed to agree). Carnahan also seems to have reinforced this by posting a rather cryptic update from his twitter account “ DD-MM-73″ – I’m not exactly sure what it means but the DD seems to hint at Daredevil.
The move seems almost spiteful in a way as this is pretty much a last minute attempt to keep the rights to Daredevil before the October 10th deadline (after which the rights will return to Marvel’s portfolio for characters). However, the report also includes details of a potential deal between Marvel and Fox to use this current predicament as an opportunity to make a character trade of sorts. For instance, in order to extend the deadline, Fox may offer Marvel usage of the other characters that they currently own, for instance, the Fantastic Four could be used in an Avengers sequel – yes it’s highly unlikely but it’s just an example. However, The Avengers seems like a good platform to bring either the FF or DD into the fold or even use some of their enemies as villains (Galactus seems like a good fit).
Either way, the Daredevil reboot couldn’t be any worse than the first film.
