We always knew that Avatar would get the inevitable sequel treatment but unlike the initial projected release date of Christmas day 2014, Bleeding Cool now reports that we may have to wait just a little longer.
According to producer Jon Landau who worked on the Box Office mega hit, the Avatar sequel won’t be ready for another 4 years. That means 2016 is the tentative date that you can expect to see the blue cat people once again. Cameron has also said that he would like to film the sequels back to back with a year between releases which leaves the third part dated at 2017.
Can you wait that long for another trip to Pandora? Avatar may not have been a hit because of its admittedly cliche story but the use of stereoscopic 3D was definitely the draw card. Now with strides taken in 3D technology, does Avatar 2 have anything to prove? Hopefully Cameron can up his game in the writing department and make a compelling argument that will convince us to part with our cash once again.
