Hey peeps, Joel here with this past weekends box office results,
It seems that despite having any advanced critical reviews, Underworld Awakening still came out tops this weekend – probably due to fans and the insatiable Twilight crowd.

Also new is the family drama We Bought a Zoo, which debuted just behind the vampire flick. Surprisingly, David Fincher’s Dragon Tattoo thriller gained a little steam and jumped up to third place. Dropping from first spot is Dolphin tale which enjoyed a two week run at the top, he is gone but not forgotten. Mission Impossible 4 is still hanging tough and as of now has grossed over R15 444 191 on the local circuit, not too shabby.
I never thought I’d be happy to see these guys again!
With three new films entering the top 10, we finally say goodbye to Alvin and the Chipmunks. We’re also bidding farewell to the locally produced 31 Million Reasons (which only spent a week at 9), and the art house release: Margin Call.
This week sees the triumphant return of The Muppets to the silver screen, they have been sorely missed but hopefully that will all change. Also releasing is The darkest Hour – the first of what one expects to be many doomsday films hitting screens during this year. Courageous (a religious drama), J. Edger (a Clint Eastwood directed biopic of the infamous FBI boss), and finally, We Need to Talk About Kevin.
