Given the recent failure of Dark Shadows, it’s safe to reference Tim Burton as a visual master but cinematically mediocre. Frankenweenie looks to be another romp into the macabre as Burton has been doing for decades now but it does have the added charm of being a stop motion animated film – something that he’s always shined with. Be warned that the trailer pretty gives us the entire film’s plot line, I’m sure it will be just as predictable regardless of the trailer though.
Frankenweenie releases locally in 3D on 26 October. The film is directed by Tim Burton and stars the voice cast of Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, and Martin Landau.
