With The Avengers released, the next big thing is The Dark Knight Rises, and what better way to steal Marvel’s thunder than by letting loose a new Dark Knight Rises trailer in the middle of Avengers fever? The latest trailer is pretty revealing, where the other trailers didn’t highlight much in the name of story, the third trailer has given us a truckload of info as to how the film might pan out – it’s somewhat spoilerish but not most trailers give away much more. One of the major changes (that I think is a relief to everyone) is that Bane’s indecipherable speach from the former trailer and the prologue has been cleared up and is very much audible – the fans spoke and Warner Bros. listened…now that’s a Hollywood fairytale ending.
The last film in a trilogy is always a hard nut to crack and I’m hoping that this one comes out pitch perfect but I will forgive Nolan if he can’t pull it off, often times it’s hard to top the first sequel (Spider-Man 2, Empire Strikes Back are primary examples). I don’t know much about Batman’s rogue gallery but Bane doesn’t seem to be very threatening, I know that my impression of his his character will inevitably change once I see the film but the trailers we’ve seen thus far don’t put out a convince argument other than the old adage “actions speak louder than words”…which is ironically apropos.
The Dark Night Rises is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Michael Caine.
The film releases on 27 July 2012
